The Stewart County Board of Education is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Pierre Coffey as the new K-12 principal for the Stewart County School District, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Coffey brings nearly two decades of experience in education and leadership. He most recently served as an instructional coach and head football coach at Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia. Under his leadership, Carver's football program achieved remarkable success, culminating in a Georgia Class 2A state championship, the school's first title since 2007.
A proud graduate of Tuskegee University, Dr. Coffey began his career as an assistant coach at Carver High School from 2011 to 2014. In 2018, he transitioned into administration as Assistant Principal at Baker Middle School, where he was well-regarded for fostering a culture of discipline, resilience, and community among students and staff. He emphasizes character development and academic achievement alongside extracurricular success. His leadership philosophy centers on building strong relationships and creating environments where students are empowered to excel both in and out of the classroom.
