Empower Southwest Georgia (ESWGA) recently collaborated with the Stewart County School System to provide Stewart County students with laptops. On Wednesday, April 23rd, the non-profi t organization gave away 20 laptops to approved middle and high school students.
The laptop giveaway was organized by Empower Southwest Georgia Youth Advisor, Scooter Pittman and retired Intervention teacher Billie Mallory. All refurbished laptops were provided by PCs For People. In appreciation of this collaboration,
Mallory said “We would like to thank Dr. Robinson and Mr. Barnhill for allowing Empower Southwest Georgia to provide students with the opportunity to receive laptops.” Since 2023, Empower Southwest Georgia has worked diligently to provide rural communities with access to broadband internet through Digital Literacy training classes, connectivity testing and grants to
provide low income households with discounted monthly internet service.
“It was a pleasure to work with Stewart County school system Ms. Billie Mallory in bridging the digital divide in Southwest Georgia. We look forward to continuing a prosperous relationship.” said Pittman.
